When developing your drink menu, you are probably well aware of the classic mixed drinks containing cubed ice, but are you equally attentive to the variety of drinks that take advantage of crushed ice? From basic cocktails to frozen drinks, crushed ice can add an extra flare and diversity to your drink menu. It can also add individuality to your already popular drinks, or even create new favorites. Here are five popular crushed ice cocktails you may want to add to your existing drink menu.

Berries ‘N Cream Cocktail

This berries ‘n cream cocktail is a versatile frozen drink. Whatever your favorite fruit, you can adjust the recipe to suit your taste. Try substituting standard berries with unique flavors like kiwi or pomegranate.

  • ½ oz spiced rum
  • ¾ oz wild berry schnapps
  • 3 oz of your favorite frozen daiquiri mix
  • 2 tbs of your favorite berries or fruit
  • 2 oz cream
  • 16 oz crushed ice

Start by pouring all of the ingredients listed into a blender filled with the crushed ice. Blend until you reach desired consistency and serve in a large hurricane glass or multiple cocktail glasses. For that extra touch, garnish the drink with the appropriate fruit or berry.

Blue Polar Bear Cocktail

  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part chilled peppermint schnapps
  • 1 tsp of crushed ice

Start by shaking the peppermint schnapps and vodka together, mixing thoroughly. Next, drop in the crushed ice, shake again lightly, and pour into a shot glass. The crushed ice adds a nice chilled effect that works well with the cool peppermint aftertaste.

The Classic Whiskey Smash Cocktail

  • 2 oz Dewar’s or other scotch whiskey
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 twist lemon peel

Butter Cream Cocktail Recipe

For those Bailey’s Irish Cream fans, this recipe may suit your fancy.

  • 1 part butterscotch schnapps
  • 1 part Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 2 parts milk
  • 1 part crushed ice

Mix the schnapps with Bailey’s, pour milk over mixture, add crushed ice, let sit for one minute, and serve in a cocktail glass.
